Watercolor Painting Class - 2-Month Session

Whether your child is new to painting or continuing their artistic journey, each student will receive personalized instruction in a supportive and creative environment.
About Watercolor Painting
Watercolor is a transparent, water-based medium known for its light, flowing quality. Unlike oil paint, which is thick, opaque, and slow-drying, watercolor dries quickly and allows the white of the paper to shine through the layers of color. Students will learn to work with water, transparency, and timing while exploring techniques such as washes, layering, blending, and wet-on-wet painting.
Because watercolor can be less forgiving than oil paint, students will also learn how to plan their compositions, preserve highlights, and embrace the spontaneous effects that make this medium unique.
Arrival
Please arrive 10 minutes before class to give your child enough time to set up their materials. We also encourage families to consider traffic and weather conditions when planning their arrival.
Each class begins with a 10-15 minute demonstration introducing the day's techniques and concepts. Since this demonstration is an important part of the lesson, students should arrive on time.
What Students Will Learn
New students will begin with drawing exercises to develop observation and sketching skills. They will then be introduced to essential watercolor techniques, including brush control, water-to-paint ratios, basic washes, layering, and creating light and shadow before progressing to individual painting projects.
Returning students will begin with color theory and color-mixing exercises to strengthen their understanding of color relationships. They will continue developing their watercolor skills through more advanced techniques and individual painting projects.
Our classes are designed to help students build confidence, develop strong artistic foundations, and explore their creativity at their own pace while receiving individualized guidance.
